- April 22 2023 – Annual General Meeting (1 pm)
Attend in person or email for a zoom link. Join us after the meeting (3 pm) for coffee/tea/snacks for an open
house to learn more about the Society’s objectives of”Capturing History, Building Community” - April 26 2023 – Pruning Workshop (12:30 -4:30 pm)
Station master gardening Glenys Smith teaches all about pruning perrenials, shrubs, and trees. Cost
$15.00, or free if you can help complete pruning atanother date. - May 20 2023 – Spring Opening Day for the Station
Park 2023 Station hours of operation: Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 5 pm. Sundays 12
pm to 5 pm. Self-serve refreshments (homemade cookies and beverages) can be purchased throughout
the season. Visit the White Elephant Gift shop forunique treasures, tour of spring gardens, watch the
model trains in the Morgan Garden Railway. View our exhibits, or take a tour (self or guided available.) Take a
ride on our Percy-like train (Weather permitting) - June 3 2023 – Plant Sale and Swap (10 am to 5pm) Purchase or swap some of the many plants that
grow within our station gardens or have been donated by community members. Bring your gardening questions.
Donations of plants, garden and yard items are gratefully accepted. Carrot cake and beverages
available for purchase. All other regular attractions of our station site will be available. - July 29 2023 – Family Train Day Festival (10 am to 4:30 pm)
Back by popular demand! A day for the children and young at heart. Enjoy Speeder rides with Sir Topham
Hat supervising the railway. Thomas and friends will be traveling around the Morgan Garden Railway, and
children can enjoy free play in the Children’s garden. Participate in a scavenger hunt. Food and beverages
available for purchase. Entry by donation. - New for 2023 – Open Sunday afternoons 12 pm to 5 pm May 21st to August 27th. Watch our facebook
page for info on entertainment/markets/garden tours happening on any given Sunday. - Nov. 2, 2023– White Elephant Christmas Gift Sale and Tea
Enjoy Christmas shopping from 10 am to 4 pm for unique items in our gift shop on opening day. Enjoy tea and treats in our beautiful seasonally decorated Station Tea Room on Nov. 2. The White Elephant Christmas Sale will be open every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from November 2nd through December 9th. Donations of gift items are greatly accepted. Book the station’s Tea Room for your private event or Christmas
party.
MEETING CREEK SITE EVENTS – 2023
- Year Round – Explore our Historic Railway Station, Grain Elevator, Grassland and Natural Linear Park
Take a self guided tour of the station and elevator at your leisure. Call ahead to arrange a tour, or visit Half Diamond Sales in Meeting Creek to arrange entry into the buildings. Choose to walk the trail back from the grassland and read the historic signs. Stop and walk the Labyrinth. Using a Discovery Pack hike or cycle the Linear Trail northwest of the Station and discover the unique flora and fauna. Bring your group to birdwatch in the early morning. Cycle the trail from Meeting Creek to Edberg. For more information call 780-672-3099 or 780-608-9892. Admission by donation. - Spring and Summer 2023 – Community Gardens at Meeting Creek Station Grounds
We are welcoming all to help us grow a community garden at the Meeting Creek Railway Station Park. If you are interested in joining the continued development and upgrading of the Meeting Creek site, please let us know. There currently is an existing fenced garden on site that will be expanded and more raised beds developed. Each participant or group of participants would receive space for one 10 x 20 foot box. The Canadian Northern Society will fund the materials and land, each participant is responsible for building their box, and suppling their own compost and seeds. Screened topsoil will be provided on request. For more information or to reserve your space, please call Michelle at 780-672-3099 or Karen at 780-608-9892. - August 19 2023 – Meeting Creek Family Fun Day (10 am – 4pm) Enjoy tours of the station and elevator at Meeting Creek, Alberta. Ride the Track Car, take guided or self-guided nature walks along Linear Park Trails,
enjoy many children’s activities. Chili with homemade sunnyboy bread, homemade pie and beverages available for purchase from 11 am to 3 pm in the community hall. - September 23 2023 – Meeting Creek Bee Day – Enjoy working with volunteers to prepare for winter at the Grasslands and closing of the Station & Elevator for the winter season.
