Our mission remains:
Capturing History —
Building Community
The Canadian Northern (Meeting Creek) Historical Society – operating as the Canadian Northern Society - has been active in preservation of a collection of heritage railway stations and associated property and artifacts since 1987.

We are a volunteer-driven organization; reliant upon our members, executive, and communities for support. We are very proud of the award-winning preservation efforts undertaken through the years, as an example our Meeting Creek Heritage Railway station site has been described as “the most authentic preservation of a grain elevator, railway station, and station grounds – complete with an original section of the Canadian Northern Railway – anywhere in Canada.

The CNoS is administered by a volunteer board and has 2 part-time staff helping with administration and maintenance.

We are dedicated to the continued preservation and maintenance of our heritage sites:
In long-standing partnerships, we also help maintain:

•  Together with the Village of Big Valley, the 1912 Roundhouse Interpretive Centre, Big Valley
•  Together with the Donalda Museum, 1909 Heritage Railway station Donalda
•  Together with the Viking Station Gallery and Arts Centre Guild, 1909 depot Viking

Memberships in the Canadian Northern Society are open to all interested.

Private donations and endowments are critical to our preservation efforts.

We are a registered charity and tax receipts can be issued for donations of cash, materials, and artifacts.
